We provide food for 250+ Colombian families daily.
Poverty and inequality can be seen throughout Colombia. Over 45 percent of the entire population lives in poverty. It is the mission of Hands on Outreach to make a difference in the lives of those living in that 45 percent.
To help, Hands on Outreach has established a food bank in Colombia. Families can get food from the bank when they are in need. Hands on Outreach also delivers food to families in the rural communities who cannot travel to the bank. We help 250+ families with food daily! As families are given food from the bank, they are also given prayer.
We supply the needy families with rice, beans, corn, vegetables, potatoes, chocolate, pasta, salt, oatmeal and a few snacks for children. Many of the families Hands on Outreach serves only eat once a day. This allows groceries to stretch as long as possible.
Meat is an essential part of most Colombian dishes, but to these rural Colombian residents, meat is a novelty. As a special treat for the residents, once a year the Hands on Outreach buys a cow. They have it slaughtered and distribute the meat to families in need. A Colombian rancher raises the cow from birth. It is a great way to involve the community in helping others.
